The PADI Open Water Course is your first step towards becoming a qualified diver, allowing you to dive to 18 metres.

PADI is the worlds largest and most recognised recreational scuba diving training organisation in the world. The PADI Open Water course teaches the foundation knowledge and skills needed to dive.

After completion of this course, you can:

  • Dive with a buddy within the limits of your training and experience
  • Obtain air fills, scuba equipment and other services
  • Plan, conduct and log dives

The Open Water course consists of three sections:

  • Pool work
  • Book work
  • Open water dives

The course starts with the pool work, as we like to get people diving straight away. In these sessions we teach students the skills needed to dive safely and enjoyably. Once a few pool sessions have been completed we advise students to start looking at their book work.

The Open Water course contains some book work, which establishes a foundation of principles, procedures and general information that divers need. Students are required to read this themselves and complete knowledge reviews, but help is available if it is needed.

The open water dives start once we feel students are capable enough. The location and length of the dive trips vary depending on the needs of the student, but can include days out to local inland dive sites, days or weekends to the English south coast or holidays to Tenerife.

After this course, you continue your dive adventure by starting the PADI Advanced Open Water.
